There are a lot of free combat trackers out there. Most of them look like they were last styled in 2014, or they make you click through five screens before you can type in a goblin.
So we put ours online. Free, no signup.
What it does
Open the page. Name the encounter. Type in the goblins. Roll initiative. Run the fight.
- Initiative with party-first tie-breaking
- HP, AC, saves, wounds, conditions
- Round counter, turn advance, keyboard shortcuts
- A shareable room URL — players see whose turn it is on their phones, without seeing monster HP
- D&D 5e and Pathfinder 2e
That's it. No character builder. No campaign setup. No empty-state lecture about your DM philosophy.
Rooms live for seven days of inactivity, then they vanish. Combat is ephemeral on purpose.
Why a separate site
The tracker was already inside The Scribe's Tower. It works well in there — pulls your party, loads monsters from your records, all of it. But "inside the app" means make an account, make a campaign, learn what this product is. That's the wrong ask when a fight is starting in eight minutes.
It was also the most-praised piece of the beta, and the people praising it kept wanting to share it with friends who weren't in the beta. So now they can.
Who it's for
DMs who need a combat tracker right now and don't want to fight one to use it.
If you've been using one of the old free trackers and you've gotten tired of the 2014 vibes — try this one. If you've been thinking about building your own because nothing on the open web feels right — save yourself the weekend.
If you never become a Scribe's Tower user beyond this, that's fine. Run good fights.
The honest bit
I'm a DM. I built The Scribe's Tower because I wanted a clean codex for my world and an AI co-DM that remembered what happened last session — in one place that didn't feel like a wiki configuration project. The combat tracker is one corner of that.
If the standalone version feels like it was built by someone who actually runs games, that's not an accident. If that makes you curious about the rest — the codex, the living summaries, the co-DM — you know where to find us.
Try it
combat.scribestower.com — free, opens in a tab.
If something breaks mid-session, tell us in the Discord.
